MONKI SEES YOU

What does representation mean to you?

For my final graduation project for the Amsterdam Fashion Institute I introduced a new concept for the brand Monki.

Monki Sees You: the branded content series is specifically targeted towards the third culture teens. Those who want to explore, understand and learn more about having a cultural-blended identity. The third culture teens are second and third generation citizens from everywhere and nowhere. They are unable to completely relate to their parent’s customs and be-liefs and yet at the same time labelled as “different” from mainstream culture. Raised in between mixed upbringings therefore they can struggle with a cultural identity crisis, influenced by the lack of representation and the negative biases in society.
